University of Illinois Global Campus Opens Applications for New Fall 2008 Programs

Interested students can now apply to three new online programs from the University of Illinois Global Campus:

  • A Bachelor in Business Administration Degree Completion Program, created in partnership with the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
  • A Master of Science in Patient Safety Leadership (and two related graduate certificates in Patient Safety Leadership), created in partnership with the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
  • A Master of Science in Recreation, Sport and Tourism, created in partnership with the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Graduates of all Global Campus programs receive degrees or certificates from the fully accredited University of Illinois, just as they would receive for campus-based programs.

The Bachelor in Business Administration is aimed at working professionals who have associate's degrees or at least a year of college, and are looking to complete a bachelor's degree to advance in their careers in management, finance, accounting, marketing, and other business-related fields. A BBA is also a first step on the path toward an MBA or other graduate degree.

The new Patient Safety programs are targeted toward healthcare professionals or those looking to break into an exciting new field of healthcare management. Students in these programs will learn how to reduce medical error and risk and to build a culture of patient safety throughout their organizations. With soaring healthcare costs and a rise in incidents of medical error, the emerging field of Patient Safety presents an opportunity for professionals to be agents of change in their organizations and their communities.

The Master of Science in Recreation, Sport and Tourism is aimed at professionals in parks and recreation, senior centers, hotel and tourism management, natural resources management, special events planning, and health and fitness. Job opportunities are on the rise in all of these areas, and graduate degrees provide the best option for career advancement.

These new programs join the existing Global Campus programs: a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Completion Program, created in partnership with the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago; and a Master of Education with a concentration in E-Learning (and two related graduate certificates), created in partnership with the Department of Human Resource Education in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

For the new Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Completion Program, Illinois residents and contributing members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association will pay $31,860 for the entire degree ($531 per credit hour for 60 credit hours). Students residing outside Illinois will pay $35,400 for the entire degree ($590 per credit hour for 60 credit hours). Pending approval from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), registration for coursework will commence when IBHE approval is secured.

For the Master of Science in Patient Safety Leadership, Illinois residents and contributing members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association will pay $29,160 for the entire degree ($810 per credit hour for 36 credit hours). Students residing outside Illinois will pay $32,400 for the entire degree ($900 per credit hour for 36 credit hours). For the graduate certificates in Patient Safety Leadership, each 12 credit hours in total, Illinois residents and contributing members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association will pay $9,720 for the entire program, and students residing outside Illinois will pay $10,800. Pending approval from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), registration for coursework will commence when IBHE approval is secured.

For the Master of Science in Recreation, Sport and Tourism, Illinois residents and contributing members of the University of Illinois Alumni Association will pay $17,820 for the entire degree ($495 per credit hour for 36 credit hours). Students residing outside Illinois will pay $19,800 for the entire degree ($550 per credit hour for 36 credit hours).
