Program Information
Technology management jobs are growing faster than jobs in any other area of business and management. According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook, six of the fifteen fastest growing job categories in the U.S. are in information systems, specifically computer and communications network analysis, systems analysis, computer network administration, software engineering, database management, and information technology forensics.
The Master of Science Degree in Management Information Systems with a focus in Data Mining will develop highly-trained professionals with fundamental knowledge of both information technology and business, preparing them for managerial roles as information systems professionals. The MS Degree in MIS is designed to prepare business and information technology professionals for careers in MIS, including business analysts, system designers, consultants, database developers and managers, process analysts, project managers, business intelligence experts and more.
This program is offered by the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. To earn the Master's degree, students would be required to complete eight 4-credit hour courses-- 32 hours in total course work. Upon successful completion of all coursework, students earn a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from the fully accredited University of Illinois at Chicago.
Program Objectives
Students in the program will gain:
- Knowledge, skills and expertise to design, develop and implement information systems solutions for a broad range of business problems.
- Capabilities and knowledge for managing information systems and technology projects in organizations.
- A deeper understanding of management solutions for professionals in information systems and information technology.
After completing the program, graduates will be conversant in the language and concepts of information technology and systems. At the same time, they will develop a good understanding of business, organizational processes and management concepts.

Completion Schedules:
The typical course load is one or two courses per eight-week term. At the rate of one course per term, you can complete the degree in 16 months if you take courses in back-to-back terms.
