Sid Bhattacharrya, PhD

Sid Bhattacharrya is Associate Professor of Information and Decision Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the College of Business Administration. Previous to this role, Dr. Bhattacharrya was Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He also served as a Visiting Researcher at the Research Institute for Applied Economics in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr. Bhattacharrya received his PhD from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and his BE from the Birla Institute of Technology in Ranchi, India. He has worked in systems planning, implementation and maintenance of various computer systems and networks, and design and support for application software projects. Dr. Bhattacharrya’s research interests include Data Mining and Warehousing, Genetic Algorithms and Agent-based Computation.

Ranganathan Chandrasekaran, PhD

Ranganathan Chandrasekaran is Assistant Professor of Information and Decision Science at at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the College of Business Administration, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on e-business strategies, management of information systems and information systems projects. He has consistently received excellent teaching evaluations by students in his courses. Dr. Chandrasekaran also teaches at professional development and executive programs at UIC.

Prior to joining UIC, Dr. Chandrasekaran was Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He has worked as a management consultant at Exeter Group in Cambridge, MA, where he was engaged in technical and management consulting projects. He has held research positions at National University of Singapore, and has been an adjunct faculty at a number of business schools in India and Singapore.

Dr. Chandrasekaran has authored over two dozen articles and his publications have appeared, or are forthcoming, in journals such as Communications of the ACM, Decision Sciences Journal, Information & Management, International Journal of Information Management, Information Systems Management, and Journal of Computer Information Systems. His research has been funded by several institutions such as IBM, Center for Research in Information Management (UIC), Pontikes Center for Management of Information (SIU) and Center for e-Business and Center for Management of Technology at National University of Singapore.

Dr. Chandrasekaran received his PhD in Management Information Science from the Indian Institute of Management and a Master’s from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science. His research interests include E-business Transformation and Information Systems Strategies, IT Adoption, Assimilation, and Diffusion and Organizational Impacts of Information Technology.

Aris M. Ouksel, PhD

Aris Ouksel is Professor in Information & Decision Sciences and Computer Science in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. For several years, he served as Director of the Management Information Systems PhD program and as Director of the Center for Management of Information Technology and Telecommunications (CMITT) in the college.

Dr. Ouksel has provided consulting services to private corporations, such as Ameritech and AT&T, in information technology strategic planning and business process reengineering. He has also consulted several public entities, such as the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and the City of Chicago. In consulting for the Chicago Manufacturing Technology Consortium (CMTEC) managed by the Economic Development Commission of the City of Chicago, his role was to assess the scope of technology application and information technology integration, recommend ways of applying technology to reengineer organizational structures, and evaluate the impact of technology on product/cost quality for several small and medium-sized firms in the Chicago area. Dr. Ouksel has also consulted for Rush University Medical Center in information systems strategic planning.

Dr. Ouksel received his PhD in Computer Science from Northwestern University. His research interests include Information Technology Strategic Planning and Diffusion, Business Process Reengineering, Information Economics, Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, Wireless and Peer to Peer Data Management, and Semantic Issues on the Web and in Virtual Inter-organizational Information Systems.
