Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

This exam preparation course is designed to prepare you to pass either the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) or the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification exams offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI®).

This course is open to all who want to register. However, we want you to be aware of the following Project Management Institute requirements for obtaining their credentials*:

  • You should make sure you are able to meet the PMI requirements for obtaining either the CAPM or the PMP credential.
  • Requirements for the CAPM credential:

    • High school diploma/global equivalent AND
    • 1,500 hours project management experience OR
    • 23 hours project management education

    Requirements for the PMP credential:

    • High school diploma/global equivalent AND
    • 5 years project management experience AND
    • 35 hours project management education

      OR

    • Bachelor's degree/global equivalent AND
    • 3 years project management experience AND
    • 35 hours project management education

In addition to the PMI requirements, you should also be aware of the following requirements/recommendations:

  • You must agree to take the CAPM/PMP certification exam within 90 days after completion of the course. Your "pass guarantee" is dependent on meeting this requirement. And, your chance for success with the exam increases if your exam attempt comes soon after the course completion.
  • We strongly encourage you to join the PMI organization. Membership to PMI is $129, and members will receive a $129 discount off the PMP certification exam (essentially your PMI membership is free). In addition, with your membership you'll get a copy of the A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) text, PMI's manual upon which the exam is based (a $49.95 value).
