Textbooks and Course Packets

Textbooks and official course packets can usually be ordered through the UIC Bookstores, and can be shipped worldwide via UPS. In addition, many of the materials for your course(s) may be available on the course website. UIC students may also visit UIC's Micro/Station for special educational discounts for all your software and hardware needs.

Library Services

The University Library Web site provides links to UICCAT, an online catalog of UIC's library holdings, and to a wealth of online information resources. Many of the latter resources are specially licensed and available only to UIC faculty, staff, and students. To gain access, library patrons, including online students, are prompted to enter their Network ID (a unique login assigned when you enroll in your first course at UIC) and associated password.

Students enrolled in online classes at any of the University of Illinois campuses have access to all UIC Library Resources. Depending on your campus affiliation, UIC will ship books to your "home" campus for pick up. At the present time, UIC does not mail or ship books to alternative pickup sites.

It may be possible, within the state of Illinois, to make arrangements to have books routinely shipped for pickup at another library on a case-by-case basis, particularly if it is a library in the I-Share consortium. These arrangements are made with the cooperation of the other library you are using.

UIC will ship copies of articles either in hard-copy or electronically via Ariel to another University of Illinois site for pickup. As with books, arrangements can be made for pickup at some other libraries in the I-Share consortium. The goal is for UIC to be able to supply these electronically to students via e-mail or to a secure web-site, but this is not yet possible.
