Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Informatics

University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Applied Health Sciences

Program Information

UIC offers an online non-degree health informatics certificate program that addresses the needs of health care, IT, and health information management professionals with at least a baccalaureate degree. Graduates are conversant in some current aspects of the implementation, operation, and control of health information systems. Course work emphasizes development of a state-of-the-art skill set and knowledge base grounded in health care information sciences.

This program provides graduate-level credit for either continuing education credit or a credential indicative of advanced, current knowledge in the health informatics field.

In order to obtain the non-degree post-baccalaureate health informatics certificate (10-11 semester hours), students must take two required courses plus one elective.

Most students will complete their requirements in one to two years. The coursework is a subset of courses in the master of science curriculum and emphasizes the analysis, implementation, and ongoing management of certain critical factors that impact the successful use of health care information technologies.
