The College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago plans to offer a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Completion through The Global Campus beginning in September 2008.
The BBA curriculum will engage students in courses that cover strategic management, financial and managerial accounting, managerial communication, finance, management information systems, business ethics, and marketing. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), business professionals are among the highest paid workers in the nation, making this program a launching pad for aspiring students. With a solid understanding of the functional components of business, graduates will apply newly gained theoretical knowledge to solve real-life problems -- both while in the program and once they graduate.
Graduates of the online BBA program through The Global Campus will be highly employable and, with skills and knowledge gained in the program, they may advance to upper levels of business management. Employers of all sizes and in various industries seek business administration graduates for a broad range of positions from business manager and sales representative, to human resource manager and project planner.
As of May 2004, according to the BLS, median annual earnings for a person graduating with a BBA varied between $50,770 and $84,220. The BLS reports that the number of jobs in many different facets of the business industry is projected to grow as fast as or faster than the national average for all jobs. In addition to high wages and a promising career outlook, the broad and diverse needs of private industry provide opportunities for BBA graduates to work for any size organization in practically any area of interest. Entry-level jobs for graduates with a BBA degree include accounting, consulting, commercial banking, corporate finance, financial investment, insurance broker, real estate sales and marketing.
Upon successful completion of all coursework, you will earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from the College of Business at the fully accredited University of Illinois at Chicago.
This curriculum consists of 19 courses ranging from three to four credit hours for a total of 60 credit hours:
Each of these courses is currently taught as part of the various degree programs offered on campus by the UIC College of Business Administration. The development and delivery of the online version of these courses will be directed by the award-winning faculty of the College. The College of Business Administration is one of a select number of institutions accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Completion Program will use asynchronous online instruction that emphasizes group collaboration as the foundation for delivery of the courses. The program will also employ synchronous web conferencing, ePortfolios, podcasting and other technologies where appropriate.

There are numerous courses that satisfy each of these categories. You can see a list of these courses and other information about UIC General Education requirements at www.uic.edu/ucat/toc.html. For most of these course requirements, credit can be transferred from other institutions.
Other Mathematics, Statistics, Calculus, or quantitative analysis courses are highly recommended prerequisites that can be taken in order to satisfy the 24 hours of Electives requirements. Many of the courses listed for the General Education requirements can also be used to satisfy the 24 credit hour Electives requirement.

Pending full academic approval, The Global Campus will offer the following start dates for the Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Completion Program:
Potential students should be aware that this program still requires formal approval from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). Registration for coursework will commence when IBHE approval is secured. This approval is expected to be considered at their June 3, 2008, meeting.
Each course will be eight weeks in length. The typical course load is one or two courses per eight-week term. You can complete the degree in 20 to 38 months by taking courses in back-to-back terms, depending on the number of classes taken in each 8-week session.
